SPL Roundup - from the horses mouths …
May 10, 2008Motherwell 2 - 1 Aberdeen
I thought we played really well and it was a great advert for Scottish football. Chris Porter might have been offside for his goal and we’ve not had the rub of the green too much. We knocked the ball about well on a difficult pitch and sometimes it’s just not your day in football.
Aberdeen’s Jimmy Calderwood resigned to another mediocre season.
Both teams were going for it and Jimmy Calderwood knew his side had to win as a draw wasn’t good enough. Aberdeen equalised when they were in the ascendancy, so we’ve done terribly well to go and win the game. We’re not taking anything for granted. But the great thing is we’ve got Hibs to play - they’re in our sights.
Motherwell’s Mark McGhee feeling confident, and so he should be.
Rangers 3 - 1 Dundee United
We had a blatant penalty and he bottled it. If it’s not a level playing field and, if we don’t get the decisions, blatant, important decisions then what is the point of turning up? I thought Mike McCurry had the balls to stand up and give these decisions, but he bottled it. Not only is it a penalty kick, but it’s a sending off for Davie Weir. But he didn’t want to do it because this game meant so much to Rangers.
Dundee United’s Craig Levein, clearly not happy with the refereeing. Craig, it’s Rangers, at Ibrox. A call to come for a chat at the SFA awaits.
It takes a huge effort for our team just now and I was glad to see the third goal go in. If we want to go over the season and look at the decisions we’ve had against us, that’s fine.
Walter Smith. What dodgy refereeing decisions?
Hearts 0 - 2 Kilmarnock
It’s good for the supporters, they’ve stuck with us. It was nice to have something to cheer about because we’ve not had a lot to cheer about this season. I thought the team played well second half and it was very encouraging. We passed it better and we got more movement. Once we scored you could see a little bit of confidence in the team.
Jim Jefferies sees the bright side
It’s probably as bad as I’ve felt. We lose our opening game of the season against Hibs at home and we’ve now lost our final league game at home against Kilmarnock. We need big characters, hopefully we’ll get them next season because for this football club to progress we need things like that
